My name is Sean Reid, and I'm running for State Representative to leverage my unique professional and personal experiences in fighting for the residents of West Lynn and Nahant every day!
I have a deep commitment to public service and a strong track record of community involvement. I am currently a member of the Lynn School Committee. I am involved in a number of other organizations including the YMCA, My Brother’s Table, Alumni and Friends of Lynn Classical, and co-founded a nonprofit organization, Kayak and Sail Lynn.
Serving as Senator Brendan Crighton’s Legislative Director, I bring direct advocacy experience in the State House that will allow me to hit the ground running. The departure of a true champion like Rep. Peter Capano leaves big shoes to fill. While no one can replace him, I am the candidate ready to serve our community effectively from day one.
My priorities include fighting for more funding for our school buildings and operations, addressing the housing crisis head-on, advocating for a 21st-century transportation system, combating climate change and bolstering coastal resilience, and providing more resources to address the violence, mental health, and substance use issues in our communities.
I haven’t just worked on many of these issues in my professional world - I’ve lived them. Growing up in West Lynn, I faced poverty, housing insecurity, and a family battling addiction. I went on to attend Callahan, Breed, and Classical. I later graduated from North Shore Community College and Amherst college. My wife Kelsey is a special education teacher in the Lynn Public Schools.
I look forward to listening to and learning from your ideas, concerns, and questions. I pride myself on being accessible and approachable, so please reach out if you ever want to chat.
